World Earth Day

World Earth Day was commemorated through a meticulously planned event spearheaded by the SEED NGO, in partnership with the Hyderabad Metro Water Supply and Sewerage Board. The exponential rise in India's population, coupled with the rapid pace of urbanization, has exacerbated the frequency and intensity of cyclones, wreaking havoc on agriculture and the livelihoods of vulnerable communities across rural and urban landscapes.

Recognizing the pressing need to address these challenges, SEED took proactive measures to foster awareness among local community-based organizations, including farming communities, slum-level federations, youth groups, women's self-help groups, and residential welfare associations. This initiative coincided with Earth Day and was conducted in collaboration with HMWSSB, with a primary focus on disseminating knowledge and enhancing capacities related to soil health, as well as strategies for conserving and restoring natural resources within their respective locales.

The event, which drew participants from the Hayathnagar GHMC areas of Rangareddy district, saw an assembly of 150 concerned citizens eager to engage with these critical issues. Throughout the proceedings, attendees were enlightened about the paramount importance of natural resources and were equipped with insights into efficient utilization techniques. These included practical methods such as water budgeting, aimed at curbing wastage, and advocating for measures to mitigate the proliferation of concrete landscapes in urban areas, thus fostering sustainable development and environmental stewardship.
